Millionaire Andy Cohen branded ‘cheap’ as he reveals how much he pays babysitter

Andy Cohen has been branded “cheap” after revealing he pays $30 an hour for his babysitter.
Speaking on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, he told Jeff Lewis that he pays his 23-year-old babysitter $30 an hour for childcare. The Real Housewives reunion host, reportedly estimated to be worth around $50million, is dad to son Benjamin, seven, and daughter Lucy, four.
During Monday’s episode, Lewis pushed back immediately, telling him: “Oh, hmm. That sounds cheap to me. Especially from someone with your money.”
Lewis then questioned what Cohen paid for a recent period, asking: “She was there for two hours, and you gave her 60 bucks? Did that even cover the cab?”
Cohen, who recently made his red carpet debut with his new boyfriend Kevin Sobieski, corrected him, replying: “She was there for two hours and fifteen minutes, so I gave her $70.”
Lewis compared Cohen’s rate with what he pays at home, saying he pays his babysitter $37 an hour to look after his daughter, nine-year-old Monroe.
He also said he would have paid more for the same job, adding: “I probably would’ve given her 100 for two hours, two kids.”
The conversation has since prompted debate online about what counts as “normal” for childcare in New York, where Cohen is based.
On social media, fans have been left divided. One said: “That seems cheap to me in NYC for two children.” Another said: “That’s cheap for two kids in NYC.”
However someone else suggested: “$30 an hour is more than minimum wage in most states.” Someone else added: “That’s plenty for a babysitter!”

Andy Cohen welcomed both children via surrogacy. Benjamin was born on 4 February, 2019, while Lucy followed on 29 April, 2022.
Speaking on his talk show Watch What Happens Live in December 2018 before the birth of his son, he said: “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something that I have wanted in my heart for my entire life.
“Though it’s taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet.”
