The BBC has confirmed the search is under way for the UK’s Eurovision 2027 act and song, after 2026 entrant Look Mum No Computer finished last with one point.
The broadcaster said it and BBC Studios want “a clear focus on presenting the very best of contemporary British music to millions of viewers across Europe and beyond”.
UK Eurovision Project Director David May, who previously managed the UK’s 2022 act Sam Ryder, said: “We intend to be represented by an outstanding current British act, backed up by the very best songwriting and production talent the UK music industry has to offer.”
May added: “We are looking for an act with tried and tested live performance experience and a song crafted in the UK by the very best home-grown talent.”
The selected act and song will be revealed before the European Broadcasting Union’s deadline of March 2027.
Could 2027 mirror Sam Ryder’s success?
May also reflected on Ryder’s incredible second-place result in 2022, saying: “I saw first-hand in 2022 what one performance at Eurovision can do for an artist’s career. The opportunity is still very much there and it’s time the United Kingdom reached the top of the Eurovision scoreboard once again.”
The renewed push follows a rough run on the scoreboard. Look Mum No Computer’s synth-infused track Eins, Zwei, Drei ended the UK’s 2026 campaign in last place with just one point.

There are also reports that the BBC are on the look-out for a “successful” act, with a source telling The Sun: “For 2027, they are ripping up the rule book.”
Sam Ryder is the UK’s best result in years, with Liverpool hosting in 2023 on behalf of Ukraine.
Mae Muller followed in 2023 with “I Wrote A Song”, coming in 25th place. Olly Alexander’s “Dizzy” landed him in 18th place in 2024, while Remember Monday’s “What The Hell Just Happened?” came 19th in 2025.
Eurovision Song Contest 2027
Eurovision 2027 will take place at Arena Burgas in Burgas, Bulgaria. The semi-finals are scheduled for 11 and 13 May 2027, followed by the Grand Final on 15 May 2027.
Earlier this year, new rules for Eurovision 2027 were announced, including a change that blocks a winning country from hosting if there is active conflict there.
A number of countries have confirmed they will not participate due to Israel’s inclusion, including The Netherlands and Ireland. Meanwhile, Czechia have dropped out due to budget issues.
