Village Drinks to launch new media club for gay professionals
One of the UK’s leading social networking communities has announced ambitious plans for a media club.
Village Drinks said it has the backing of the the BBC and Edelman; the world’s largest independent PR firm.
What started as a small social gathering for gay networking three years ago has grown into a important part of the London landscape for professional gay and lesbians in the capital and in other British cities.
The first Village Drinks media club event will take place on 10th September.
Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee will attend along with members of the BBC’s Lesbian and Gay Forum (LGF).
“I’m looking forward to attending what looks set to be a fun and lively event,” Ms Toynbee said.
The BBC gay forum is supporting the venture on a long term basis.
“BBC LGF members are jumping at the chance to attend Village Drinks’ exciting media events,” said spokesperson Kam Wan.
Greg Healey, Co-Founder, Village Drinks said:
“We’re over the moon that so many media personalities have signed up to support us with this venture and to have the backing of the BBC and Edelman.
“So many of our members work in the media or take an interest, that it makes a lot of sense for us to have a media club where people can share experiences and knowledge. You can expect one very exciting line up of speakers.”
Future confirmed speakers include Andrew Pierce, Deputy Editor of The Daily Telegraph (16 October); Guy Black, Corporate Affairs Director of the Telegraph Group and David Aaronovitch, columnist on The Times newspaper (13 November).
