The United States Supreme Court officially added same-sex marriage cases to their September agenda on Wednesday.

The justices will meet in a closed-door meeting on 29 September and will review appeals from Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, and Virginia.

The justices however could decide to wait to make a decision until January on whether or not they will hear the cases.

Earlier this month, 32 states called on the Supreme Court to issue a ruling on same-sex marriage, across two separate legal briefs.
