Listen to Meryl Streep’s take on Gaga’s Bad Romance
Meryl Streep covers a Gaga classic in her latest film role.
The triple Oscar winner, 66, stars in ‘Ricki and the Flash’ in which she plays a woman who abandons her family to live out her dream of being a rock star.
The film includes a cover of Lady Gaga’s 2009 hit ‘Bad Romance’ by Streep, with a more rock n roll edge.
Streep has previously starred in the musicals ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘Into the Woods’. However, Ricki is a marked departure from these roles – with more of a rock vibe.
In preparation for the role, Streep learned to play the guitar from Neil Young, and worked on perfecting her vocals with her co-star Rick Springfield.
The film is directed by Jonathan Demme – best known for ‘Philadelphia’ and ‘The Silence of the Lambs’. It was written written by Diablo Cody, who penned ‘Juno’.
The film’s also includes covers of ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ and Pink’s debut hit ‘Get the Party Started’, and is available to download now.
With Streep doing ‘Bad Romance’ and Gaga trying her hand to at acting by appearing on the upcoming season of American Horror Story, it seems like the world is turning upside down. Is Tom Hanks next in line with a Nicki Minaj cover?
Ricki and the Flash comes to UK cinemas on 18 September.
