Daniel Craig on whether James Bond might be gay: ‘Anything is possible’
James Bond star Daniel Craig has said āanything is possibleā when asked whether the iconic character can be gay.
Asked by Sky News whether Bond could be black, a woman or gay, Craig responded saying any are possible.
He said: āAnythingās possible. You can do anything as long as itās credible and it works. It doesnāt matter.ā
Pierce Brosnan, who played the iconic spy from 1995ās GoldenEye to 2002ās Die Another Day, recently caused a storm when asked that Bond could be portrayed as gay or bisexual.
He initially said: āSure. Why not?ā, before adding: āI donāt think [the producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen.ā
The director of Daniel Craigās 2008 Bond film, Quantum of Solace, has also weighed in.
Marc Forster, who helmed the critically-panned instalment in the franchise, told BANG Showbiz that the films must remain faithful to the original Ian Fleming novels.
There has been speculation in recent months that Luther star Idris Elba could take up the reigns ā becoming the first black actor to take on the role.
