It seems not everybody was impressed with the singer’s touching tribute…

Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie at this year’s Grammy Awards may have impressed audiences worldwide – but it looks like it didn’t go down too well with Duncan Jones.

The pop icon’s son sent out a cryptic – yet stinging – tweet following Gaga’s much-praised performance in honour of his father.

Jones wrote on Twitter: “‘overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.’ Damn it! What IS that word!?”

The word he was looking for, of course, was ‘gaga’ – giving the exact Oxford English Dictionary definition of the term.

Gaga performed ten of the icon’s hits from the 70s and early 80s – including Space Oddity, Changes, Fame, Let’s Dance and Heroes.

Gaga said paying tribute to Bowie was probably the most challenging thing she’s done in career, as she credited the star with shaping her identity as an individual and a performer.

“When I was 19 years old, I started to live my life like him. I began to consume art and fashion and art history and a combination of those things, performance technique,” she said.

“I only hung out with people that were artists and that was the way that he was and I learned that from him.”

“What I’m trying to say is there’s people that love David Bowie, and then there’s David Bowie fans, and there’s Bowie kids, who live like him,” she added.

“I can’t express to you, I don’t know who I’d be if I didn’t have (him as) a figure in my life.

“I don’t know what my identity would be.”
