An American student has shared the emotional moment she was reunited with her “super macho” university friends for the first time since coming out as trans over Facebook.
In a video shared by Stateless, the woman opens up about her journey coming to terms with the way she identifies her gender.
Named simply as “Vanessa”, she recalls how therapy helped her overcome a period of self-harming and heavy drinking.
The film follows the student as she goes to meet peers from her fraternity and is embraced by them.
Earlier this year one of America’s oldest fraternities opted to explicitly allow trans men for the first time.
