Kristen Stewart kisses Chloë Sevigny in trailer for lesbian murder film

A new trailer for biographical film Lizzie shows Kristen Stewart getting close with co-star Chloë Sevigny.

The upcoming movie tells the story of an American woman called Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted of murdering her mother and stepfather with an axe in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1892.

The film, directed by Craig William Macneill, portrays Borden (Sevigny) as a single 32-year old woman, who is a social outcast.

She soon meets the younger Bridget Sullivan (Stewart) – her real-life rumoured lover – after she comes to live with the Borden family to work as a house maid.

The pair start up a romance, hatching a plan together, which comes to a dark end.

The murder case became a cause célèbre, and is a well-known topic in American pop culture.

It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January this year, and is set to be properly released in September.

The movie also stars Fiona Shaw, Jay Huguley, Jamey Sheridan, Denis O’Hare, Kim Dickens, and Jeff Perry.

The chilling trailer shows Stewart and Sevigny’s characters getting intimate by holding hands and sharing a brief kiss.
