Pop superstar Kylie Minogue will headline Brighton & Hove Pride in August this year—meaning she is set to play at her first Pride event in the UK.

The Grammy Award-winning princess of pop will perform a headline set in Preston Park on Saturday 3 August, organisers announced on Twitter on Tuesday morning (February 5).

She will be supported by Cambridge-born three-piece Clean Bandit on the main stage of the Pride in the Park festival.

Minogue, who has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, took to Twitter to confirm her headline set at Brighton & Hove Pride.

Brighton & Hove Pride organisers, meanwhile, posted on Twitter: “In her first ever full UK Pride performance, @kylieminogue will be bringing us a very special show with some of her biggest hits,

“‘Better the Devil You Know,’ ‘Get Outta My Way,’ ‘On a Night Like This”‘All the Lovers’ & ‘Can’t Get you Out of My Head.'”

Kylie Minogue takes to Twitter to reveal headline Brighton Pride set

Last year, Brighton Pride organisers were criticised after thousands of attendees were left stranded at the local train station following Britney Spears’ headline slot.

Tickets for Brighton Pride event are currently on second release sale at between £25 and £35.

The Brighton Pride tickets are approximately half the price of the tickets for Manchester Pride’s music festival, which have doubled in cost since the 2018 event despite no line-up being announced.

Organisers at Manchester Pride faced heavy criticism following the price hike, with one student telling PinkNews she and her friends would no longer be able to afford to go.

Tickets for the Manchester Pride festivities, including a music festival and events in the Gay Village, were released on January 31, increasing the price for the four-day event in August 2019 from £28  in the previous year to £70.95.

According to organisers, the £70.95 “Rainbow Pass” will give the “full Manchester Pride Festival experience featuring a line-up of international entertainment,” as well as unlimited access to the Gay Village Gathering, which runs from August 23 to 26 2019.

The price increase comes as Manchester Pride organisers relocated the festival to Mayfield and away from the iconic Canal Street, citing property development in the historic gay district as one reason for moving out.
