Lady Gaga is taking some time out of her day to help students who have been robbed of a proper graduation to celebrate their achievements.
The coronavirus pandemic has seen many major events cancelled and postponed in an effort to curb the spread of the virus – and among those events are graduation ceremonies.
Students across the world have had their graduation ceremonies cancelled, meaning many are unable to celebrate their success and hard work.
But Lady Gaga isn’t going to let their achievements go by unnoticed.
Lady Gaga will join Barack and Michelle Obama to celebrate the class of 2020 in a YouTube special.
The pop star will be joining Barack and Michelle Obama, among others, in a YouTube graduation event called Dear Class of 2020, Variety reports.
Lady Gaga is just one of the commencement speakers slated to address students across the world in the June 6 event.
The Obamas are headliners of the digital ceremony, with both set to deliver individual commencement speeches as well as a joint message to students graduating during the pandemic.
Other speakers include BTS, Malala Yousafzai, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Secretary of Defence Robert M. Gates.
The virtual graduation ceremony will also feature Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Kerry Washington, Chloe x Halle and Zendaya.
YouTube is presenting the graduation ceremony alongside Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher initiative along with Lady Gaga’s Born This Way foundation and the Malala Fund.
The pop star recently curated the hugely successful One World: Together at Home event.
The event is just the latest in Lady Gaga’s efforts to help people through this crisis.
The acclaimed pop star recently pushed back the release of her hotly-anticipated sixth studio album Chromatica due to the ongoing pandemic – but she hasn’t been resting on her laurels.
She curated the much-praised One World: Together at Home television event, which saw artists from across the world perform from their homes in an effort to raise funds for the global fight against COVID-19.
Gaga created the hugely successful event with Global Citizen, and managed to get some of the world’s best known and loved pop stars to take part.
