One of Britain’s first gay dads welcomes ‘beautiful baby girl’ with his eldest daughter’s ex-boyfriend

One of UK’s first gay dads welcomes baby girl with daughter’s ex-boyfriend

One of the UK’s first gay dads has welcomed his second daughter with his fiancé – who also happens to be the ex-boyfriend of his eldest daughter.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 50, is engaged to his assistant Scott Hutchinson, 25. Hutchinson previously dated his fiancé’s daughter, Saffron, for a few months.

The couple announced earlier this year that they were expecting a baby through a surrogate in October, not long after they announced that they were engaged.

Barrie announced on Instagram his daughter, Valentina Drewitt-Barlow, was born Saturday (26 September), almost a month early.

“Our girl is almost a month early but she is perfect,” he said in the caption. “We feel totally blessed.”

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his former partner made headlines in 1999 as one of the UK’s first gay dads.

Barrie, originally from Manchester, made headlines in 1999 with his former partner, Tony Drewitt-Barlow.

They became the first same-sex couple to be formally registered parents. Their surrogate mother gave birth to twins, Saffron and Aspen.

After the twins, they fathered three more children: Orlando, Jasper, and Dallas.

Barrie and Tony entered a civil partnership in 2006, and later getting married the day same-sex marriage became legal in 2014.

However, things took a turn when Tony was diagnosed with cancer. The couple separated due to many reasons, one being that their relationship became “platonic”.

Barrie also ended up falling “head over heels” with his then PA, Hutchinson, while his partner Tony was in the hospital recovering last year, The Sun reported.

Ultimately, the couple split up and Barrie and Hutchinson became engaged.

Speaking to The Sun early on in August, Barrie said: “We are thrilled we are going to become daddies again. Tony is excited too, although it does underline that our marriage really is over after all these years, so it is very bittersweet.

“But we are all going to remain living under the same roof. Tony is Dad, I’m Daddy and while at the moment Scott is stepdad, soon he’s going to be Daddy Two.

“We are happy, we want to co-parent our kids and that’s all that matters. If people don’t get it, that’s their problem, not ours.”

All three men, along with their children, live together in their £6 million Florida mansion.
