Intrigue-packed Yakuza spin-off Judgement out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S

Judgement

Fans of Yakuza take note: Judgement is out now on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X/S.

A spin-off of Sega‘s hugely popular series, this time you’re the cop rather than the gangster.

This remastered release available on Amazon includes all downloadable content previously available for the original 2019 PS4 release.

It also features the expected 4K graphics, 60fps frame rate, and improved loading times the new consoles allow for.

The remaster is also available for Google Stadia.

The game was originally exclusive to PlayStation – this remaster marks the first time it’s available on Xbox and Stadia.

An overview of the game from Sega reads: “Judgement is an action thriller that puts players in the shoes of Takayuki Yagami, disgraced attorney turned rugged private detective, as he uncovers the mystery behind a grisly series of murders.”

The game takes place in Kamurocho, the same fictional city as the Yakuza series that’s based on the real life Shinjuku ward of Tokyo.

And just like the Yakuza series, the game features beat-em-up street fights, side missions with locals, and the comedy minigames the series is beloved for.

In Judgement, though, there’s an extra emphasis on investigative gameplay as you track suspects and discover clues, walking the line between the law and corruption. You are a detective after all.

Lead role of Yagami is played by actor and singer Takuya Kimura, from the likes of HeroLove and Honor and voice actor in Howl’s Moving Castle.

Judgement received a decent critical response upon its release, so this remaster will bring the game to a new load of fans who missed out the first time, or those still catching up on the Yakuza series.

Judgement follows the recently released Yakuza: Like A Dragon on PlayStation 5.

The latest in the Yakuza series, it puts a new spin on gameplay with turn-based battles and heavy inspiration from the Dragon Quest series of JRPGs.
