Madonna proves she’s still, in fact, that b***h at VMAs: ‘We’re still here, motherf**kers’

Madonna on stage at the MTV VMAs

Madonna proved that she’s still capable of stealing the show during an iconic appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The legendary singer kicked off the awards ceremony in New York on Sunday night (12 September) – and the moment immediately broke the internet.

Madonna walked out on stage in a sleek trench coat, which she wore over a leather puff-sleeve bodysuit. The effortlessly camp look was completed with a matching black hat – because of course it was.

The icon stepped up to the microphone as her song “Vogue” played in the background. “And they said we wouldn’t last, but we’re still here motherf**kers,” she said. “Happy 40th, MTV! Welcome to the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards,” she added.

But the best moment was yet to come – Madonna then turned on her heel and walked away, showing her sculpted derriere to the world.

The internet was blown away by Madonna’s MTV VMAs appearance

In addition to her attention-grabbing stage debut, Madonna also unveiled the trailer for her upcoming Madame X concert film, which is due to land on Paramount+ in the United States in October.

Before arriving on the VMAs stage, a pre-recorded introduction was played for the Queen of Pop.

In the pre-recorded segment, Madonna was filmed in the back of a taxi. A voice over said: “I told the taxi driver to take me to the centre of it all. I came to New York City with nothing but 35 dollars and a pair of dance shoes… I was 19 and terrified.”

Madonna went on to reflect on the birth of MTV. “40 years ago, another underdog arrived in New York City hopping to create something revolutionary and a music channel premiered in the middle of the night and called itself MTV,” she said.

“We found each other and from then on changed my life, changed music and created a new art form. That’s why there’s only one place to be tonight.”

The MTV VMAs saw some of the biggest names in music descend on New York City for the spectacular event.

Lil Nas X hilariously thanked the “gay agenda” after winning the award for best video, while Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Bieber also picked up some of the night’s biggest honours.
