JoJo Siwa has defended taking her new girlfriend on a date to Chuck E Cheese, saying trolls need to remember she’s been a “giant toddler” her whole life.

Siwa went TikTok official with Avery Cyrus after she posted a video on 13 September featuring them kissing in a photo booth at the American children’s pizza restaurant and entertainment chain.

The confirmation of Siwa’s new relationship set the internet on fire, but some people decided to rain on the Dancing with the Stars finalist’s parade by criticising her choice of venue for a date.

A TikTok user trolled Siwa for going on a date at the establishment whose motto is “where a kid can be a kid”. The user posted a video of a person walking with a swagger with the words: “How I walk knowing I’ve never taken someone on a date to Chuck E Cheese.”

JoJo Siwa clapped back at the critical TikTok with a video of her own, saying it was her “duty” to take Cyrus to the restaurant.

“You know what I love most about this?” Siwa said in the video. “This girl woke up today and was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna hate on JoJo Siwa for taking Avery on a date to Chuck E Cheese’… as if I haven’t been a giant toddler my whole life.”

She added: “It’s my duty!”

In the caption to the video, Siwa wrote she would “highly recommend Chuck E Cheese” as a place to take a date.

The 19-year-old appeared in the video wearing the same outfit she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of Alanis Morrisette’s Jagged Little Pill musical. Siwa and Cyrus – no relation to Miley – made their red carpet debut as a couple and embraced for a series of cute pics.

Cyrus established herself on TikTok in 2019 and has become a well-known creator within the platform’s growing LGBTQ+ community. She often discusses her sexuality, relationships and feelings.

JoJo Siwa came out as part of the LGBTQ+ community in January 2021 and revealed her relationship with Kylie Prew shortly after.

The Dance Moms alum later confirmed she and Prew had broken up after less than a year of dating, saying they remained ‘best friends’. However, the pair briefly rekindled their romance in May, before breaking up again in August
