Nine delightful facts about Remember Monday, the UK’s 2025 Eurovision act

Remember Monday

Remember Monday, the UK’s entry for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, is gearing up to take the world by storm.

The BBC unveiled the pop trio – Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele – as this year’s entry in March. They will take their song ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ to Basel, Switzerland in May.

The song sees the trio recollecting about the crazy night they all just had with a light-hearted video capturing the campy spirit of Eurovision perfectly. Written by the band, along with Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard, it also spotlights the trio’s signature harmonies.

They’ll be hoping to score better than the UK has in the last couple of years. In 2024 the UK scored a grand total of nil points with Olly Alexander’s ‘Dizzy’. That followed Mae Muller with 24 points for ‘I Wrote a Song’ in 2023 and Sam Ryder’s ‘Spaceman’ in 2022, which ended up second at 466 points.

But who are Remember Monday, the self-professed “pop girlies with a little bit of yeehaw”? Here are some facts about your new favourite act.

The trio are all best friends

Friends that play together, stay together. And apparently that’s true when to comes to being in a band too. As per the BBC, Lauren, Holly-Anne, and Charlotte have been the best of friends since meeting at Farnborough College in Hampshire in 2013. Lauren and Charlotte were also among Holly-Anne’s bridesmaids.

There’s a logical reason for the band’s name…

…it’s the day that they would meet to practice when they first got together. Initially, they were called Houston, and released music by that name. However, in 2018 they rebranded after realising other bands shared the name.

The band appeared on The Voice UK in 2019

You may remember Remember Monday from when they appeared on The Voice UK in 2019. Ultimately, they reached the Quarter-Finals led by the Grammy, Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson, who, as per the BBC, continues to mentor the band.

They’ve all appeared in West End shows

Each member of Remember Monday has appeared on London’s West End, showing they’ve got the vocal chops and the stamina to hold their own at Eurovision.

Holly-Anne has starred in Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. Meanwhile, Charlotte has starred in Mary Poppins, and Lauren in Matilda as well as having a leading role in the nationwide tour of SIX The Musical. However, it wasn’t until 2023 that they all decided to quit their day jobs and focus on the band full-time.

Remember Monday will make Eurovision history

The girls of Remember Monday will be the first all-female group to represent the UK since 1999. Speaking to the BBC, the band has described this as “such a crazy honour.” They also teased of their performance: “We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage…”

The girls are big fans of some former UK Eurovision entrants

As well as Olly Alexander and Sam Ryder, Remember Monday has said they are fans of Bucks Fizz – the 1981 contest winners – calling their skirt-ripping performance “iconic”, though they aren’t planning any similar antics!

The band has made an unusual vow

As per the Daily Mail, posting on Instagram in March the band members said that if they score nil points, like Olly Alexander did in 2024, their whole team would get the abbreviation of their song, WTHJH?, tattooed on their body. The girls also said, “If we get top five or above, every single person on our team has to get WTHJH tattooed on their bod.”

Remember Monday are huge on social media

Remember Monday may not be household names just yet, but online they have over half a million loyal followers. On TikTok alone they have 11.3 million likes.

They have a unique way of dealing with haters

Having a large presence online can open you to abuse and hateful opinions from awful people. However, Remember Monday have found a way of dealing with negativity in taking trolls’ comments and turning them into music. Beautiful!
