Tommy Dorfman and her wife are going their separate ways.

13 Reasons Why actress Tommy Dorfman has reportedly filed for divorce from her wife Elise Williams after almost two years of marriage.

According to online court documents, originally obtained by PEOPLE, the Love, Victor and Romeo + Juliet star filed for divorce on Friday 16 May in New York City.

The official split comes five months after 33-year-old Dorfman hinted at their break-up in a cryptic Instagram post on 29 December, in which the actress reflected on a turbulent year.

She wrote of feeling “heartbreak” and moving into a new home with her dog Fiona. “Fiona loves her new home and, while it’s just the two of us now, I think she’s managing better than I,” she admitted.

Dorfman and Williams met via dating app Hinge in 2021, before swiftly becoming engaged after just two months. Though they adopted a puppy six months after meeting, they waited 12 months until they moved in together.

Last May, the actress revealed that she had married her “best friend” Williams by eloping in late 2023. After a day spent joking about same-day marriages while in Malibu, the pair discovered that Los Angeles offered such a service with confidential marriage certificates, meaning their elopement could be kept for public knowledge.

Yet in a since-deleted Instagram post from May 2024, and in an essay for Vogue, Dorfman revealed that they eloped with a “perfect” ceremony.

“It wasn’t until we got back to Brooklyn that we felt the urge to mark our marriage in a more meaningful way,” she wrote.

“While it didn’t feel like something we needed to flaunt publicly in any way, it was still the biggest moment in our lives together and we yearned for the memory of our love – and these beautiful dresses we bought – to be immortalized. We also wanted at some point to share our love with our friends, family, and the world.”
