Bobby Berk is returning to the small screen, people! And his new series was announced just one day after the end of Queer Eye was confirmed.
Season nine of Queer Eye debuted earlier this year, and no longer featured Berk as he stepped away from the series after season eight amid accusations that he was “fired” and cast-member-fueled drama. Instead, a new member of the Fab Five was introduced, Jeremiah Brent.
The interior designer has been keeping busy with podcast appearances, launching two boutique resorts in Palm Desert, California, and running his own design company. However, Berk has yet to appear in a new series, until now.
HGTV, the cable channel where Berk’s replacement ironically previously featured, announced on Thursday (10 July) that the former Queer Eye star is set to star in his own series, Junk or Jackpot? The six-episode season is set to see the design expert helping homeowners to choose whether they should part ways with their collectables to raise money to remodel their homes, or not.
The series will “celebrate each distinct collection”, as per People, while Berk provides support to each homeowner in order to categorise their much-loved items to earn a “dream makeover”.
Berk said, as per the press release: “I’m excited to help passionate people sift through their cherished items and give them reimagined spaces that will best honor what they hold dear.”
News of the John Cena executive-produced series (yes, really) landed just one day after it was announced that Queer Eye is set to end.
The Netflix reality series has been renewed for its tenth season, which has been confirmed as the final instalment of the platform’s longest-running unscripted series.
Bobby Berk’s new series Junk or Jackpot? is set to premiere on HGTV and stream on HBO Max later this year.
