Legend, All Stars winner and professional female woman Trixie Mattel has confirmed her second break from drag and social media – this is when.
Trixie Mattel – makeup mogul, podcast host, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season three and more – famously took her foot off the other girls’ necks when she announced and undertook a several-month-long break from drag (and social media) in late 2024.
The icon took the hiatus due to health reasons, beginning her break in July and returning in late October, only talking to fans via pre-recorded materials (and one post on X giving mobile provider Verizon a piece of her mind).
Following an announcement in early June, Tracey Martel has now confirmed the dates for her break – and she may already be on it…
“Last year I went on my first ever break from drag,” Trixie told viewers in a new YouTube video posted to her channel (14 July) titled “I’m Taking (Another) Break! (not a menty b)”.
“I was coming out of the worst depression of my life, coming out of a crisis of: ‘What am I doing with my life? Do I even like drag?'” Trixie shared. “I was over it.”
Trixie said of her break: “All summer, last summer, I was so off the grid… All I did was chill. And it was so creatively fulfilling.
“And I realised you have to refill the bucket! And so, this summer, I’m doing that again. I’m pre-taping [content for the channel].”
Trixie also confirmed that her break would span at least the month of August, adding: “No-one needs to be cross-dressing in August.”
The All Stars champ added: “If you’re an artist, do not disrespect the gift of being an artist, by wearing those tires down until they’re bald.”
Though Trixie did specifically mention the month of August, she implied later in the video that she might already be on the break – so basically, her break will kick off any time from now to the end of August.
Fret not though, because as with her first break, Trixie will pre-tape content for her socials, including special guest hosts for her YouTube channel. Last year saw fellow Drag Race icons like Nymphia Wind, Plasma, Lawrence Chaney, Jan and more in their individual Trixie TV Takeovers.
And, as teased when Trixie first announced her second break, there’s a very special Drag Race project coming up on her and Katya’s joint podcast The Bald and The Beautiful: a season seven rewatch for ya nerve.
