Joe Locke has gushed over his friendship with “really wonderful man” Elton John after the pair holidayed in Nice, France together with fellow Heartstopper star Kit Connor.
Joe Locke and Kit Connor were joined in the city in southern France by another Heartstopper star, Tobie Donovan, who plays asexual bookworm Isaac Henderson in Alice Oseman’s cherished queer teen series.
Elton John joined the trip alongside his husband David Furnish and, perhaps surprisingly, former Little Britain and Britain’s Got Talent star David Walliams.
Walliams shared a sweet photo of himself with the Heartstopper actors on Instagram, alongside a video of himself dancing around a table in La Guérite restaurant in south Cannes, while Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” blares over the speakers.
The comedian and author also shared the clip to his X account, writing: “Summer holiday.”
Elton appears in the video signing and clapping along as his pal dances about, while 23-year-old Donovan grins and applauds too.
Locke and Connor aren’t seen in the video, but in a chat with Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills on 19 August, Locke confirmed that he and his co-star had been in the restaurant too, enjoying the group trip.
Asked by Mills how the trip came about, Locke said: “Because Kit played young Elton in [2019 film] Rocketman and so since then, Elton loves making sure that young people are good in the industry.”

Locke added: “He cares and we’ve become friends that way. He’s a really wonderful man.”
The actor, who will make his West End debut in Clarkston next month, said that the group had a “very nice trip”, adding that while he “didn’t get up and dance” with David Walliams, he was “jiggling along”.
Elsewhere during his chat with Mills, Locke opened up about how he’s feeling leaving behind Charlie Spring, the gay teen he plays in Heartstopper who propelled him to stardom in 2022.
Heartstopper will conclude with a film entitled Heartstopper Forever, set for release in 2026.
“It was, you know,” Locke said when asked whether the final moments on set were strange. Heartstopper Forever wrapped filming in July.

“He’s been such a big part of my life for so long and it was weird. It felt like a non event almost because I’m so used to playing him that on the last day of shooting I was like, ‘Oh this is it, this is a really weird feeling’,” he shared.
Teasing how Heartstopper will end, Locke added: “I can say that it’s a lovely ending, it’s fun, it’s a lot more grown up in a really nice way.
“These characters we’ve been growing up with them and now they’re finally catching up and becoming adults.”
Locke confirmed that Heartstopper Forever will be arriving on Netflix in 2026, though it’s unlikely to be in the first few months of the year, as the star said it won’t be “that soon”.
