The trailer for the third season of Euphoria has dropped and it looks like Rue (Zendaya) is in a lot of trouble.

The long awaited third season of the HBO Max show not only reunites audiences with Rue but almost everyone including Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Nate (Jacob Elordi), Maddy (Alexa Demie), Jules (Hunter Schafer) and Colman Domingo (Ali).

Things start off calm as Rue reflects: “A few years after high school I don’t know if life is exactly what I wished. But somehow for the first time I was beginning to have faith.”

She appears in church indicating that maybe the character is trying to find her way back on to the straight and narrow in this season.

We then see Rue working in The Smoke Shack when she’s approached by Laurie (Martha Kelly) who calmly states: “You owe me money.” She’s accompanied by some armed men so it’s fairly clear this is not a social visit.

Cassie is then seen donning sexy costumes and having herself filmed in some compromising positions. Meanwhile, Nate works in construction, possibly with his dad, Cal (Eric Dane).

“I work all day and my bride to be is spread-eagled on the internet,” says Nate. The trailer then cuts to Nate finding Cassie in her lingerie on her hands and knees while being filmed. She innocently claims: “I was just making content.”

A snapshot of the couple’s wedding, which looks like a lavish affair, is briefly seen before we catch up with Jules, looking glamorous and lounging in an expensive looking apartment.

“It’s not that weird, every girl I meet is a sugar baby,” says Maddy as she reclines on a bed, before adding: “I’m not a f****** hooker.”

We’re then introduced to a new character – possibly a new kingpin played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje – who we meet in a hot tub surrounded by women.

“You walk up into my house, dance with my girls, and you don’t even introduce yourself,” he says to a cornered Rue. The two can be seen together in several shots after with the kingpin approaching Laurie about taking Rue.

“Rue belongs to us,” clarifies Laurie, hinting at a possible power struggle to come.

Separately, Colman Domingo is also briefly spotted telling someone: “You gotta have faith.” And Rosalía is seen in a blink and you’ll miss it shot pole dancing.

As the trailer builds to a climax, things get more feverish and dramatic with bonfires, guns, and a shot of a blood soaked Nate. “The problem is, if you make a deal with the devil, there’s no turning back,” Rue says.

The trailer ends with a tearful Rue seemingly acting as target practice as she balances an apple on top of her head while someone takes aim with a golden gun.

The title card appears confirming a release date of 12 April.

Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, has previously said the show would pick up five years after the end of season 2.
