Christine McGuinness and Joshua Cavallo set for I Kissed A Girl/Boy spin-off

Christine McGuinness and Josh Cavallo will be in the first episodes of 'It Started With A Kiss'

The creators of gone-too-soon BBC series I Kissed A Girl and I Kissed A Boy are returning with a dating podcast, in partnership with dating app Tinder.

The weekly podcast, It Started With A Kiss, is set to launch on 28 April, with a double-episode launch featuring reality star Christine McGuinness and Australian football pro Joshua Cavallo.

It will be hosted by two fan-favourites from the I Kissed A franchise, Gareth Valentino and Amy Spalding.

Each episode, Valentino and Spalding will sit down with a range of famous faces, also including Tia Kofi, Rosie Jones, Nathan Henry, and Cat Burns, to talk through their perfect queer date night, starting with pre-date rituals, their dream date, and a kiss to remember.

The duo are also set to dive into their own dating experiences, whether that be cheating exes or wardrobe malfunctions, as well as their most memorable dates yet.

Tinder has also developed a segment called Hot Date, in which guests will swipe left or right on red flags, guilty pleasures and brutally honest dealbreakers. Think “lives with mum” or “calls himself a party animal”.

But aside from the light-hearted chats, guests will talk about the state of modern dating, regrets and lessons they’ve learned along the way.

Spalding, who shot to popularity on the first series of I Kissed A Girl in 2024, said: “We are in a time where giving platforms to queer stories are more important than ever. This pod is spotlighting needed voices and experiences so that those on similar journeys can relate and know they’re not alone.

“In this gorgeously queer pod we’re gathering authentic stories and spreading incredible messages about queer love whilst also having a giggle about the messy, fun, steamy, chaotic world of dating that we all experience regardless of sexuality and identity.”

Valentino, who was on the first series of I Kissed A Boy in 2023, added: “It feels more important now than ever that there are platforms to tell queer stories. On this new podcast, Amy and I will be talking to people from across the LGBTQ+ community about love, dating, chaos and heartbreak.

“It’s a space where queer stories aren’t polished or packaged, but real, complicated, and worth listening to. It’s honest, messy, and hopefully funny!”

It Started With A Kiss launches on 28 April, and is available on platforms like Spotify and YouTube.
