’80s icon Bonnie Tyler in a coma after emergency surgery

Total Eclipse of the Heart singer Bonnie Tyler is in a coma following emergency intestinal surgery.
The 74-year-old was due to perform over two dozen shows this year but is now in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
Tyler’s manager, Matt Davis, told Entertainment Weekly on 7 May: “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery.
“We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”
Additional information has not been released at this time.
She had been due to perform on 22 May in Malta at the SummerLUST Music Festival, and on 30 May in Wiesmoor, Germany.
Representatives for the singer previously announced that she had undergone successful emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal and that she was recovering.
They said: “We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery. The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.”
