Gogglebox couple Alfie Mulhall and Andrew Nicolls have shared the story of how they first met, with Andrew inviting Alfie to Mexico after knowing each other for just nine hours.
The married duo, who recently celebrated their anniversary, have been sharing glimpses into their lives away from the Channel 4 sofa in a fun video series on Instagram.
In the latest instalment of the “AA Diaries”, the couple reveal “the story of where it all began”.
Sitting in the garden of their Cotswolds home, Alfie, 33, begins: “It was first on that very notorious gay dating app. You slid into the DMs.”
Andrew, who is 30 years older then Alfie, adds: “Sunday night and at 9pm after chatting for half an hour, I said, ‘Why don’t you pop over?'”
Alfie quickly says: “I was not going to pop over for a Sunday night s*** as I’m sure you wanted.”
Andrew suggests that wasn’t what he was after, instead being “interested in getting to know” Alfie. However, Alfie declined.
Eventually, after chatting some more, they had their first date at The Delaunay.
After a “couple of martinis each” and “verbal diarrhoea from both sides”, and after “nine hours of knowing each other”, Andrew asked Alfie: “Would you fancy popping to Mexico?”
Alfie explains that they had two more dates in London before that.
Andrew says: “It was a bit strange because we’d never really done anything, we didn’t know if we were that compatible, and you came and the rest is history.”
Alfie goes on to recall their first night, which Andrew describes as “interesting”.
He says: “There was a bat in [the room], the air conditioning, which runs on solar, went off. I was in the middle of the jungle with this strange man, no Wi-Fi, no mobile phone signal and no power.
“I thought I was gonna die!”
The couple have been together for three years, and married for two. They joined Gogglebox in 2025 for series 26.
