Cara Delevingne has confirmed she and Amber Heard were “entangled” around the time Heard was divorcing Johnny Depp, saying Depp was “pretty driven crazy by jealousy”.
In a new episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast, Louis Theroux asked Delevingne about “the Johnny Depp thing”, referencing claims that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had been “driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you”.
Delevingne, who recently opened up about a 2022 seizure, replied: “Am I meant to comment? It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”
Pressed for clarity, “very proud lesbian” Delevingne added: “We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled. … But she was also entangled with other people.”
When Theroux mentioned Elon Musk, Delevingne responded: “There you go.” Heard dated Musk until early 2018.
How the timeline fits
Depp and Heard were married in February 2015. Heard filed for divorce in May 2016 and sought a restraining order, accusing Depp of abuse.
Depp later filed a defamation claim linked to a December 2018 Washington Post op-ed by Heard about alleged abuse, which he won.
Heard and Depp faced a highly publicised defamation trial in 2022.
They went through a six-week court battle which was also broadcast in the media, in which Depp was awarded $10million (£7.55million) in compensatory damages and also $5million (£3.77million) in punitive damages.
