Boy George falsely claims Dua Lipa said Israel ‘should be wiped off the face of the Earth’

Boy George has stirred up further controversy amid the release of his controversial new pro-Israel song, falsely claiming that Dua Lipa made inflammatory comments about Israel.
Posting to X on 6 August, the Culture Club frontman expressed his frustrations at the backlash to his partly AI-generated song.
“Why is [Dua Lipa] allowed to say ‘Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth’ and I get abuse for defending my Jewish friends?” he posted, tagging the ‘New Rules’ singer.
When an X user asked for Boy George’s source for the Dua Lipa quote, he shared screenshots showing pictures of the singer with text overlaid reading: “Dua Lipa: As long as Israel continues to exist on Earth there will be no peace,” and, “Singer Dua Lipa claiming there will be no peace while Israel exists is circulating widely.”
Dua Lipa has spoken out in support of a free Palestine in the past, but no credible source has verified that she made the statements shared by Boy George.
“You say genocide, I say war”
Released on 26 July, the Culture Club frontman’s new reggae song, ‘We Will Dance Again’, begins: “You say genocide / I say war / When you’re attacked / That’s what the army is for / Does it get ugly? / You bet it does / When I know you want to kill / Every last one of us…”
“The song was created using AI,” Boy George confirmed on Threads on 28 July. “I call it ‘AI for good’. Truthfully, I would struggle to write this with a human!”
On June 23 this year, a United Nations independent commission declared that Israel is committing “genocide” and “atrocity crimes by deliberately targeting Palestinian children.”
“The evidence shows that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed by the Israeli security forces,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, the chair of the commission.
“Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law.”
