Gay Big Brother housemate married ex-MP at centre of lobbying scandal

Harry Symonds entered the Big Brother house on Sunday (13 September).

A housemate appearing in the new series of Big Brother on ITV married an MP who later resigned after becoming embroiled in a lobbying scandal.

Fitness coach Harry Symonds, who entered the Big Brother house on Sunday (13 September), married ex-MP Scott Benton in 2021.

Benton was suspended by the Conservative Party and resigned as an MP in 2024 after undercover journalists caught him breaching Commons rules by offering to lobby ministers and table parliamentary questions on behalf of gambling investors.

Big Brother‘s Harry, who described himself as a “gay Christian” in his entry video, used to work as a police officer before becoming a fitness intructor.

It is not clear if the 30-year-old from Croydon is still married to Benton. He last appeared together with Benton on Instagram in August 2025. In his Big Brother entry video, he stated that he lived alone.

Benton has since joined Restore UK, the far-right party founded by former Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe, who opposes the Progress Pride flag being flown from public buildings.

Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
