Madonna has previewed a new collaboration with Charli XCX, confirming that ‘Danceteria Afterhours’ will be released next Thursday, 24 September. The pair shared a snippet in an Instagram preview video that looks built for late-night club play.

‘Danceteria Afterhours’ is a reworked version of ‘Danceteria’ from Madonna’s recent album Confessions II. In the short clip, Madonna and Charli dance in a white studio space and trade vocals, with Madonna opening: “You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli?” She then delivers a line from the original track: “Everyone here is a work of art.”
Madonna is also seen wearing a red hoodie featuring a photo of herself in the ’80s. The caption on the post reads: “Let’s take it to the East side baby…”.
Clues on social media
The tease follows a run of online breadcrumbs. Madonna shared a TikTok post last week captioned: “Thinking about Charli…”. Charli replied in the comments: “Wait… I got something I wanna talk about…”.
Over the summer, Charli spoke about spending time with Madonna in Paris, saying: “We actually accidentally threw two parties. She’s very like… I mean, she’s so cool. And she is so interested in really talking about the music that she makes, and how and why, and I found it very inspiring to hang out with her.”
Tour dates and VMAs return
Charli’s North American Music, Fashion, Film tour began on 11 September in Philadelphia, with UK and Europe arena dates due in February, including two shows at The O2 in London.
Madonna is also set to perform at the MTV VMAs next week, marking her first live appearance at the ceremony in 23 years, and she has 11 nominations this year. The upcoming slot follows news that she is returning to the VMAs stage for the first time since her famous kiss with Britney Spears.
