Diddy’s time behind bars shortened again, as records show potential January 2028 release date

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected federal prison release date has shifted earlier again, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons now listing 21 January 2028.
Juda Engelmayer, a spokesperson for Combs, said: “We never know how or why the BOP calculates and posts these dates.”
Combs is serving a four years and two months (50 months) sentence after being convicted last year on two prostitution-related charges. A jury found him guilty of two counts of transporting prostitutes across state lines for the purpose of sex, and acquitted him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges. He was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.
What does the Bureau of Prisons listing show now?
The 21 January 2028 date is the latest in a series of shifting projections since Combs began serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix.
An earlier projected release date was listed as 8 May 2028, before subsequent changes. The date was most recently listed as 5 February before now moving again to 21 January 2028.
Another adjustment was tied to alleged misconduct. The projected release date was previously pushed back to 4 June 2028 following allegations, denied by his attorney, that he drank moonshine and made an unauthorised three-way phone call.
A statement posted on Diddy’s X account said: “The rumors claiming Mr Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false.” It added: “His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family.”
Why has Combs’ case stayed in the spotlight?
Combs is a rapper, producer and entrepreneur who rose to prominence in the 1990s and built Bad Boy Records into one of mainstream hip-hop’s defining labels. He is also known for hits including “I’ll Be Missing You”, and has remained a high-profile and polarising celebrity figure for decades.
The legal saga around him has played out publicly for years. In November 2023, Cassie Ventura accused Combs of rape and sex trafficking in a federal lawsuit.
In July 2025, he was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges but found guilty on two lesser transportation-for-prostitution counts.
