Famed boxing promoter Kellie Maloney is “much nicer” following her coming out, her daughter has said, commending her bravery.

Sophie, Maloney’s 19-year-old daughter, speaks to OK Magazine about her transition. Maloney is currently in the Celebrity Big Brother house, and has been nominated for eviction.

On Kellie’s announcement that she would transition, Sophie said: “I was in absolute shock and cried, a lot.

“I nearly forgot to breathe, I didn’t speak and when I did I made an awkward joke and we just laughed and then cried!”

Her daughter said: “I only met Kellie for the first time the other day. I still don’t know how to process it, but I’m proud of her for being so brave.

“She’s much nicer as Kellie.”

She goes on to discuss Kellie’s depression, and a suicide attempt back in 2012, saying: “There was a lot of sadness and anger – I thought it was normal.

“Dad loved us but he’d switch and become angry, like something massive was going on, now it makes sense. I just thought it was his personality – all his boxing friends were moody and angry too.”

Sophie also said she was not happy that Kellie had entered the CBB house, and that she “just wanted to pick her up and take her home.”
