American rapper Azealia Banks, who repeatedly called blogger Perez Hilton a “faggot” last year, has said she has no regrets because lots of gay men are “more misogynistic” than straight men.

Last year the rapper was criticised after using the slur “faggot” on two separate occasions in an extended Twitter feud with Perez Hilton.

Speaking to the Guardian this week, she said: “I don’t regret doing it, but I’ll never do it again, because I don’t care enough about the person to have the battle again and defend my use of the word faggot.

”A lot of gay men are way more misogynistic than straight men. The s**t they say about women behind their backs, it’s like, ‘Wow, oh my God!’ You can be a straight faggot, you can be a gay faggot. A faggot is anybody that hates women.”

She added: ”It’s like, y’all sing along to my words when I’m saying n***a and ****, but as soon as I call this one white man a faggot the whole world exploded.

“Listen, I didn’t say all gay men are faggots; I said Perez Hilton is a faggot, so don’t try and bring the rest of the gays down with your faggotry.”

In February last year, she also turned her attention to gay rights groups after receiving heavy criticism.

She said: “And then you’ve got organisations like GLAAD, which are fucking complete bulls**t…

“I mean let’s look at it, it’s gay and lesbian alliance against defamation, or whatever…. that’s what it stands for, right? I mean would you agree that homosexuals, and the homosexual community, have bigger problems than the word faggot, you know what I mean?”
