Anti-gay Christian actor Kirk Cameron wins four Razzies for terrible film
Christian film star Kirk Cameron has picked up four Razzie Awards for his latest flop film.
The annual Golden Raspberry Awards – traditionally held a night before the Oscars – attempts to subvert the awards season by celebrating the worst releases of the past 12 months.
Former child star Kirk Cameron – who has previously labelled homosexuality and same-sex marriage destructive, unnatural and detrimental – was a big “winner” at this year’s event.
Cameron’s latest release Saving Christmas was savaged by critics, reducing the former Growing Pains star to ‘begging’ for positive reviews from fans on Facebook.
The Christian film, which features Cameron trying to reclaim the meaning of Christmas, picked up gongs for ‘Worst Picture’ and ‘Worst Screenplay’, while Cameron picked up the ‘Worst Actor’ award.
The former star was also one half of the ‘Worst Screen Combo’ award – which was awarded to ‘Kirk Cameron & His Ego’.
It is not thought that Cameron picked up his awards in person – and he is yet to acknowledge them.
In a video clip that surfaced last year, Cameron said: “God hates gay people, god hates fags and you’re going to hell. If we fail to be blunt and straightforward about that sin, we’re doing a disservice to our gay friends.”
He also recorded a video for the National Organisation for Marriage opposing equal marriage.
