Pro baseball player denies claims he didn’t want underwear marketed to gays
A former professional baseball player has ācategoricallyā denied refusing to market menās underwear to gay people.
Derek Jeter has become embroiled in a $30 million legal battle over the creators of Frigo Underwear, who claim that he did not want the brand to be ātoo gayā.
The lawsuit alleges: ā[Jeter] demanded that [Frigo] not market to the gay community and states that he did not want the Frigo brand to be ātoo gay.āā
According to Frigo, Jeter backed out of his deal because of the marketing strategy.
The company says Jeter was meant to appear at high profile publicity events, and to serve as the director of the brand.
In addition, the brand alleges that Jeter said appointing 50 Cent as a brand ambassador was ātoo urbanā.
Court documents, according to TMZ, also claim that Jeter said that the underwear could not be āsportyā because of existing sponsorship relationships he had with Nike.
The former New York Yankees player has denied all of the allegations, saying they are ācategorically falseā.
