Pro baseball player denies claims he didn’t want underwear marketed to gays

A former professional baseball player has “categorically” denied refusing to market men’s underwear to gay people.

Derek Jeter has become embroiled in a $30 million legal battle over the creators of Frigo Underwear, who claim that he did not want the brand to be “too gay”.

The lawsuit alleges: “[Jeter] demanded that [Frigo] not market to the gay community and states that he did not want the Frigo brand to be ‘too gay.’”

According to Frigo, Jeter backed out of his deal because of the marketing strategy.

The company says Jeter was meant to appear at high profile publicity events, and to serve as the director of the brand.

In addition, the brand alleges that Jeter said appointing 50 Cent as a brand ambassador was “too urban”.

Court documents, according to TMZ, also claim that Jeter said that the underwear could not be “sporty” because of existing sponsorship relationships he had with Nike.

The former New York Yankees player has denied all of the allegations, saying they are “categorically false”.
