This bride was stood up on her wedding day, what she did next is beautiful
Most people would run away and hide if they were jilted on their wedding day, but this bride-to-be did something spectacular.
Dana Olsen’s Seattle wedding was cancelled, so she donated her reception to a local homeless shelter.
Instead of limousines pulling up to the Sodo Park event venue, three school busses did, half filled with children.
Food, and live band-and-all, the families from the shelter enjoyed Olsen’s dream wedding reception, turning a negative into a positive.
Speaking to her best friend Katie McCary, Olsen said: “I’m going to have a bad day… Other people might as well have a good night.”
The families came from the Mary’s Place emergency shelter, wore donated evening wear, and were made over by a team of hair stylists and makeup artists.
Olsen, 29, had asked her mother Karen and maid of honour McCary, to double check centrepieces and check everything is in order at the venue.
Naturally “devastated”, McCary said Olsen is “very strong”, and Karen said Dana had asked her to find a shelter to donate the reception to those most in need.
