Jared Leto to play bisexual bloodsucker in Interview With the Vampire remake
The actor is set to follow in the footsteps of Tom Cruise and Stuart Townsend.
Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is being tipped to take on the role in the upcoming remake of Interview With The Vampire.
The Suicide Squad actor is set to play the role of bisexual vampire Lestat in the rework of the horror classic, in which Tom Cruise played the character.
The 1994 film – which also starred Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst – was inspired by Anne Rice’s ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ series.
Writer-director Josh Boone has co-written the new adaptation for the film with Jill Killington after Universal acquired the rights to Rice’s work two years ago.
Boone delighted fans of the original film when he took to Twitter to hint at Leto’s possible involvement.
Leto recently opened up about the rather interesting way he gets into the mindset of The Joker on the set of Suicide Squad.
The actor is stepping into the shoes of the legendary Batman villain in the upcoming spin-off film.
He has hinted repeatedly about the Joker-inspired pranks he played on his castmates in order to get into the mindset, including sending a live rat to Margot Robbie.
Speaking to E! Online about the ‘gifts’, he said: “Don’t forget the anal beads, the used condoms…!”
Leto previously won an Oscar for his role as an HIV-positive transgender woman in the AIDS crisis drama Dallas Buyers Club.
He said at the time: “This is for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you.”
The story will be based on classic nineties TV movie, Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?
