For the first time, fans can see Cher in the new Mamma Mia! Film, and it was worth the wait.

In October, it was revealed that Cher would be making her return to the big screen in the sequel to the 2008 smash hit, which netted more than $600 million at the box office globally.

The film will also see the return of Harry Bright – Colin Firth’s character – who came out at the end of the first instalment, and brought his boyfriend to Sophie’s wedding.

And now we know who Cher will be playing in the film.

The Oscar-winning singer and actress’s last on-screen appearance was in Burlesque, in 2010.

Safe to say, it’s been too long.

Thankfully, the first trailer of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is here – and Cher is radiant.

The star appears near the end of the trailer, landing on the Greek island in a helicopter – naturally.

Cher – dressed in a way that calls Lady Gaga to mind – approaches the rest of the characters, telling Amanda Seyfried’s Sophie: “Let’s get the party started.”

Sophie responds, revealing Cher’s role in the film.
