Nominations are now open for the PinkNews Awards 2020
Nominations have officially opened for the PinkNews Awards 2020.
In October, PinkNews will celebrate the best and the brightest of the colourful LGBT+ community. From lawmakers to corporations, allies to activists, every colour under the rainbow has a chance to shine.
Last year, the Church House – headquarters of the Church of England – in London was transformed into a constellation of clinking champagne glasses.
With attendees ranging from the Labour Party’s Dianne Abbott and former speaker John Bercow, to actor John Barrowman, with a special message from speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.
Gearing up for the eighth annual awards, nominations are now open in the following categories:
- Business Equality
- Public Sector Equality
- Community Group
- Third Sector
- Role Model
Previous winners in the categories include Manchester Airport scoring the Business Equality Award and a joint win between Northumbria Police and National Assembly for Wales for the Public Sector Award.
In the Community Group Award, Intercom Trust scooped the top award. The Third Sector Award was presented to Frontline.

Andrew Moffat, the schoolteacher who leapt into headlines in 2019 for his dedication to inclusive education, bagged the Role Model of the Year Award.
The awards ceremony is also an integral platform to not only give a platform to issues vital in the community – such as gay conversion therapy or reforms to trans legislation – but to also say, at the top of their lungs: “Gay rights!”
