NBA star Kevin Durant has apologised for sending a slew of homophobic and misogynistic messages to comedian Michael Rapaport.

Rapaport shared screen captures of the exchange, which dates back to last year, on his Twitter account Tuesday (30 March).

“I receive threats and disgusting messages DAILY, but never in my wildest dreams did I think Kevin Durant would be among them,” Rapaport wrote.

“The [snake] himself is now threatening me, bringing up my wife and wants to fight. This is supposed to be America’s sweetheart right?”

In the back-and-forth, Durant and Rapaport traded barbs as the basketball player called the actor a “pale pasty cum-guzzling b***h”, among other slurs.

The 11-time All-Star launched a volley of insults at the 51-year-old – even challenging him to a fistfight in New York City and asking for his address.

According to the screenshots, the dust-up kicked off when Rapaport slammed Durant’s post-game interview with TNT analyst Charles Barkley shortly after his team, the Brooklyn Nets, won over Golden State Warriors in December.

Durant took aim at Rapaport after the Atypical star tweeted: “KD seemed deeply in his feelings with the TNT crew after the game. DAMNIT he’s super sensitive about everything. Don’t do the interview.”

Calling him a “c**t”, a “piece of s**t”, a “b***h” and a “pussy”, Durant messaged Rapaport on Instagram saying: “I swear Ima spit in your face when I see your dirty a*s.”

“Suck a d**k… can’t wait to tell u call this in person,” he added, taking potshots against Rapaport’s wife, Kebe Dunn.

After Rapaport leaked the exchange, Durant indirectly responded as he replied to a Twitter user who commented on the screenshots, appearing to confirm their authenticity.

“Me and mike talk CRAZIER than this on the regular and today he’s pissed,” he tweeted. “My bad Mike, damn!!”

Rapaport hit back by slinging profanities of his own, denying his claim and writing: “Don’t ever threaten me or speak on my wife, pussy.”

Durant later gave a more direct but tepid apology on Rapaport’s Instagram, saying that he went “too far”. “My bad,” he commented, “I apologise.”

But he slammed Rapaport for “acting brand new” about it. “We been talking like this for years and u got serious today. Wow.”
