Polaroid says, “in a world that ruses to digital shortcuts, this exclusive collection pays homage to Haring’s analog world full of playful hand-drawn creations, showing the world that art is made to break us.”
The special edition instant camera is designed in red with black and white motifs inspired by Haring’s groundbreaking artwork.
Its accompanying film also features Haring’s art and signature on Polaroid’s classic square frame, so every snap you take and print out will feature a nod to Haring.
Haring’s designs were influenced by 1980s culture in New York, starting out as graffiti on subway walls before going on to challenge the conventions of the art world.
He used his platform for activism and addressed issues including Apartheid, the crack cocaine epidemic and the AIDS crisis through his art work.
He became a staple in the ’80s art scene and was regularly photographed with icons including Andy Warhol and Grace Jones, who he also collaborated with.
Polaroid say: “Ever since the heyday of New York in the ’80s, Keith Haring and Polaroid have had a mutual admiration for each other’s work.
“Partnering with the Keith Haring Foundation feels so natural it’s almost like a homecoming for us.
“We are so proud to keep Keith’s legacy alive, which is why we approached this collection of Polaroid products as another love letter to his amazing work.”
The special edition Polaroid x Keith Haring design is priced at £177.99/$169.99 for the set or £129.99/$119.99 for the camera and £16.99/$17.99 for the film separately.
