Only Murders in the Building is back in the Big Apple, people! Returning with a new trailer ahead of season five, the fan-favourite murder mystery has teased mob madness and plenty of new suspects.

Taking place in the series’ hometown of New York for season five after its Los Angeles jaunt last season, the show follows the Arconia building neighbours-to-best-friends trio with their hit podcast of the same name, Only Murders in the Building.

The series sees Steve Martin as semi-retired actor Charles-Haden Savage, Martin Short as the struggling Broadway director Oliver Putnam and Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora, a young artist living in her aunt’s apartment.

And if the season five trailer is anything to go by, the podcast hosts are up against their biggest New York challenge yet: the mob.

In the trailer, the trio bids goodbye to the Arconia building’s beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), following the events of season four. In the finale, new character, Sofia Caccimelio’s (Téa Leoni) missing husband Nicky, dubbed “the dry cleaning king of Boroklyn”, was reported to have links to the Caputo crime family.

But that’s not the only potential crime organisation under the list of suspects in season five.

The trailer also shares a billionaire trio, comprising actors Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman and Christoph Waltz, who conveniently find themselves in various crime scenes.

Oliver dubs them “the new mob of New York”, but are they connected to the “old mob” in any way? And did they have anything to do with Lester’s death? We’ll have to find out in season five of Only Murders in the Building.

The series is set to see even more stars where they came from, including Bobby Cannavale, Beanie Feldstein, Jermaine Fowler, Keegan-Michael Key, and Dianne Wiest. Guest stars returning include Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, Nathan Lane, and Michael Cyril Creighton.
