Drag Race winner Violet Chachki would return for All Stars – if these gagworthy demands were met

RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Violet Chachki has revealed that she would be up for an All Stars, All Winners return – but only if these demands, including a $1 million cash prize, were met.

Ever since Jinkx Monsoon became the first queen in RuPaul’s Drag Race herstory to storm the competition twice in 2022’s All Stars 7, beating out seven fellow previous winners of the show, fans have been clamouring for a second spinoff featuring former champions.

And while some winners seem keen on a Werk Room ruturn (season 15’s Sasha Colby, season nine’s Sasha Velour, Drag Race UK‘s Kyran Thrax, to name a few) others are less than thrilled with the idea.

Those in the latter camp include All Stars 3‘s Trixie Mattel, Drag Race France‘s Keiona, and, until now, season seven victor Violet Chachki.

We say ‘until now’, because speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Violet has shared exactly what Drag Race would need to do to get her back – and by her own admission, recognises that she’d “need so many conditions to be met in order for me to say yes”.

A $1 million prize package

Arguably the biggest ask from Chachki is the need for a much larger cash prize than ever seen on the show before.

Though regular seasons of Drag Race now give away upwards of $300,000, with the grand prize and challenge wins included, never has the final prize been above $200,000.

“I … think the prize should be $1 million,” Violet shared.

It’s worthy noting that other reality TV competitions like Survivor do feature a million-dollar jackpot.

Guaranteed eliminations for contestants

All Stars 7 was famously the first version of the show where no-one went home, presumably so previous winners were more likely to say ‘yes’ to returning without the risk of tarnishing their competitive reputations.

But that’s not good enough for Violet, who said that she’d need people to be hitting the house each week in order to appear, unlike All Stars 7 and 9.

“People should go home,” she said. “Back in my day, this was the Olympics of drag, and that was the appeal, that this is a sport. I took it seriously and treated it as these are the best drag queens in the country, and we’re all competing for the title.”

She added: “I think it’s more of an entertainment show, which is fabulous and gives amazing platforms to queer people. The visibility! For me, it’s about competition, and people should go home in a competition.”

Knowledge of her competitors

Traditionally, contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race have no idea who they’ll be competing with for the crown – which is another condition that Violet would want to change.

“I’d want to know who the other winners were before I signed up,” she said.

Cash stipends for looks

“I paid for everything,” Violet said of her original run on the show in 2015. “I don’t think people understand how expensive it is,” she shared, adding that “[she’d] probably negotiate a per-episode appearance fee.”

It is worth noting as well, that contestants on All Stars 8 and 9 at least did allegedly receive a cash stipend to help them pay for lewks.

Violet added: “So many things would need to be checked off the list, and I know none of those things are going to happen. So, it’s probably not in the cards for me.”
