From Grammy-nominated musicians to soap superstars, adored Olympians to literal royalty, dozens of famous faces have come out as members of the LGBTQ+ community this year. Well done everyone, that gay agenda might just be working.

Despite the anti-LGBTQ+ pushback feeling more nefarious and sinister than ever before, 2025 was a beautiful year when it came to increased LGBTQ+ visibility. We’ve seen a soap star coming out as non-binary in their fifties, two new girl band members feeling able to be open about their sexuality from the off, and an AFL player making history as the sport’s first ever bisexual player.

Here’s a list of the 52 stars and famous faces who came out as LGBTQ+ in 2025 – that’s one for every week of the year.

@pinknews

2025 is already shaping up to be a big year for queer visibility, with several celebs proudly coming out as LGBTQ+. In June, Modern Family star Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily) came out as bisexual in a TikTok using a scene from the show. In May, singer Lola Young casually came out in response to a hate comment, and KATSEYE’s Lara Raj and Megan Skiendiel both came out—Lara calling herself a “Brown, queer girl” and Megan confirming she’s bisexual on a livestream. April saw Robert De Niro’s daughter, Airyn De Niro, come out publicly as trans in an interview with Them. That same month, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina came out as a trans woman on her birthday. Actor Isabela Merced also confirmed she’s queer in a Variety interview, and in February, Draven Bennington (daughter of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington) came out as trans. Canada’s Drag Race season four star Aimee Yoncé Shennel came out as a trans woman in August, revealing that at the beginning of the year, she “opened [her] arms and welcomed this beautiful woman who was imprisoned inside” of her.

“I won’t deny that I was very scared because I knew it would be a life changing and to be honest I didn’t want to face the consequences… it was simply easier to be a gay man and not have to face the hatred and rejection that the trans community experiences everyday but something was missing, something was wrong,” she confessed.

The reality star shared a series of photos of herself posing in a pink, white and blue outfit – the colours of the trans flag – and declared, alongside trans flag emojis, that “a woman has been born”.

Speaking to PinkNews in September, Tiffany “New York” Pollard revealed that she identifies with the term non-binary, as she often feels “more masculine” than feminine.

“I really do resonate with non-binary because I feel like we are so dual without even recognising it,” she shared. “Because it takes two sexes for us to get here, so some days I may feel a lot more masculine and sometimes I’m super feminine, and that’s OK.”

Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord came out as non-binary aged 17 back in September, sharing their hope that they can provide visibility to younger queer youth.

Revord, who played Sheldon’s twin sister Melissa Cooper on The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon, changed their pronouns to they/them on social media in January, but only publicly addressed their gender identity in September.

“It’s so cool because growing up, whenever I would see a celebrity or whoever come out as non-binary or queer or anything, I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so cool, I see myself in you,’” Revord said.

“And now it’s so crazy to have that experience where I’m now that person and there might be a kid somewhere who’s like, ‘Oh my God, I see myself in you.'”

“I’ve always tried to keep my personal life separate from my professional one, but it would have felt inauthentic not to include something so important to me in this book,” she told the BBC ahead of the publication of her memoir, Mary Earps: All In.

“I’m in a really happy relationship. The people closest to me have always known, and I feel ready and happy to share that with everyone else now,” she added.

Rising Swiss tennis player Mika Brunold came out via Instagram in November, telling his fans that he wanted to “open up” about his sexuality.

“Being gay doesn’t mean loving the same gender – it also means dealing with things most people never have to think about,” the 21-year-old sportsman wrote.

“The fear of not being accepted, the pressure to stay quiet, the feeling of being different. But I’ve grown. And I’m proud of who I am today.”

“The hardest thing I’ve ever faced was accepting and embracing myself. But as I slowly began to do that, I was able to open a new door. That moment changed the way I see and understand the world, and it gave me the courage and strength to grow,” they wrote.

“Now, I can finally say, ‘There’s nothing wrong with who I am inside.’”
