Benito Skinner in 'Overcompensating' season 1

Overcompensating creator and star Benito Skinner has confirmed a big update about season two with a smiling shirtless shot.

The actor and comedian, who plays Benny in the Prime Video drama, posted on Instagram on 28 April: “Back 2 school… Overcompensating season 2 is now filming!”

In the image, he could be seen shirtless, while a clapperboard with details of the show was in front of him. Although blurred, the background showed a group of other shirtless men.

Skinner could be seen smiling in the photo, and that sentiment was absolutely shared in the comments.

One person wrote: “Season 2 hallelujah.” Another said: “I need it!” A third commented: “Steaeddd need it like yesterday.”

Benito Skinner and Overcompensating

Overcompensating debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video in May 2025.

It is based on Benito Skinner’s own experience in college, when he met the girl who would become his best friend, and help with his coming out.

Wally Baram plays Skinner’s character Benny’s best friend Carmen Neil, while Mary Beth Barone stars as his sister Grace.

White Lotus star Adam DiMarco plays Grace’s boyfriend Peter, and Rish Shah stars as Benny’s crush Miles.

Also on the season one cast were Heated Rivalry star Robbie GK, Lukas Gage, and Kaia Gerber, Connie Britton, Megan Fox, Charli XCX, and Holmes, who played fan-favourite Hailee, who is Carmen’s roommate.

The first season ended with Carmen accidentally outing Benny.

A second season was announced in September 2025, though the writing started for it in July 2025.
