Benito Skinner has confirmed Robbie GK won’t be reprising his role in Overcompensating, as he’s too busy filming Heated Rivalry season two.

Robbie played Riley in three episodes of Skinner’s coming of age comedy Overcompensating, before he saw his profile blow up after starring as Kip Grady in Heated Rivalry.

Skinner revealed Overcompensating season two was filming in April, while Heated Rivalry is set to pick up cameras in July.

However, the actor has now revealed Robbie won’t be back for season two. He also admitted he’d wanted Shane Hollander actor Hudson Williams too, who was also booked and busy.

Speaking to etalk, Skinner said: “We tried to bring Riley back – Robbie GK, who we love so much, who was in season one, but again, those boys are busy. But it’s gonna happen. One day, there’s gonna be something.

“But I’m so excited to season two for them. So I’m like, ‘They’re busy, they have to go make their show.'”

Some fans were left upset that Robbie wouldn’t be reprising his role in Overcompensating, and that Williams wouldn’t be joining the cast.

One commented on TikTok: “Robbie nooo. I thought we would see him again.” Another said: “Hudson your employment is getting in the way. I need this to happen.” A third said: “Hudson is a bit too employed right now. I’m crying.” While another added: “I hope Robbie can appear on a future season again. And Benito can guest star on Heated Rivalry!”

What we know about Overcompensating season two

Season two of Overcompensating was confirmed in September 2025, after the first debuted in May the same year on Amazon’s Prime Video.

It’s set to pick up after Benito Skinner’s character Benny was accidentally outed as gay in front of his family.

Filming started in April 2026, and it’s been reported that there will be guest appearances from Tom Francis, AnnaSophia Robb and Aisha Dee. Meanwhile, Holmes, who played fan-favourite Hailee, has been promoted to a series regular.

It has also been confirmed that Skinner will actually be playing two characters this time around.

Speaking at Prime Video’s Obsessed Fest (via Deadline), he revealed there’s “something sinister” coming.
