Glee reboot is closer than ever as Ryan Murphy confirms script is finished

Ryan Murphy has said he has finished a script for a potential Glee reboot, and that around 10 original cast members he has spoken to were “very enthusiastic” about the idea.
Speaking on to Entertainment Tonight, Murphy said: “Well, funny you ask, ’cause I just finished the script an hour ago.” He added: “So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something.”
Murphy said he had already started sounding out familiar faces from the Fox series. “I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea,” he said.
He also stressed it is still early days. Murphy said “nobody’s read it”, adding that he wanted to write “a couple” of scripts to see what people think, particularly the cast.
The project is very much still in the planning stages, and it has not been picked up by a network. Though it sounds like Murphy is keen to bring the show back, at least.
What Murphy has said so far
Murphy’s comments follow renewed chatter about revisiting Glee, which ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015 and followed the glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School.
In July, Murphy said he had considered revisiting the series because a new generation of viewers had discovered it
Lea Michele says she would return
The latest update also comes after Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry across all six seasons, said she would be happy to return.
Speaking to E! News, she said: “I love Glee. I will always love Glee. I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”
