Candace Owens calls viral ‘lesbian dating profiles’ claim ‘the most deranged’

Candace Owens is denying a viral allegation that she is secretly a lesbian and cheated on her husband, George Farmer, with a woman in 2022.
The claim was made on X on 28 September by researcher Geoffrey Edevane, who posts as Esoteric Shaggyism. He alleged that Owens had four dating profiles created in 2007 and 2008 that were exclusively or primarily oriented towards women, including profiles that allegedly identified the user as bisexual or lesbian.
“Can confirm that of everything they’ve made up, this is the most deranged. With Zionists it always has to be something crass and pornographic,” Owens wrote on X on 29 September. She added: “Reality: I had a boyfriend all throughout college (who was my high school boyfriend).”
Owens also addressed a photo being shared as supposed evidence of an account, saying it was actually a family image. She wrote that “the photo they photoshopped onto that profile is of me and my aunt and uncle from my 2015 birthday dinner in NYC”, adding that it was “just a normal family photo from my personal Facebook page”.
What’s being claimed about the alleged profiles?
Edevane’s post and attached article pointed to usernames including “Candamo429” and “Cdot429”, alleged connections to email addresses associated with Owens, her time at the University of Rhode Island, and other details that he says link the profiles to her.
None of the profiles or alleged account activity has been independently authenticated, and there is currently no independent evidence establishing that Owens created, controlled or accessed the accounts. An alleged login also cannot, by itself, establish who accessed an account or prove an affair took place.
Owens is a high-profile US conservative commentator who rose to prominence in the late 2010s through viral social media content and culture-war commentary, and she has been a prominent critic of progressive politics, including LGBTQ+ inclusion debates.
Her personal life has also been pulled into public feuds before. In March 2021, Owens and Cardi B traded threats of legal action after an argument on Twitter escalated into claims involving Owens’ husband, and they threatened to sue each other.
Owens has also previously denied being a lesbian. In 2017, she responded to speculation about her sexuality by writing on X: “LOL I’m not a lesbian.”
