The ‘Lego House’ singer surprised fans at Wembley Stadium by performing an impromptu duet with Elton John.

Ed Sheeran had a special treat in store for fans during the first of his sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium last night, when Elton John made an unexpected appearance in the middle of his set.

Sir Elton – who has previously collaborated with stars such as George Michael, Lady Gaga and even Blue – took to the stage to join Sheeran in an impromptu rendition of the legendary singer’s 1976 track, ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’.

Ed and Elton also treated fans to a performance of ‘Afire Love’, a track from Ed’s chart-topping album, ‘x’.

Elton originally released ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ as a duet with Kiki Dee, though he later re-recorded it in the 1990s, featuring vocals from Drag Race legend RuPaul.

The pair performed during the first of Sheeran’s record breaking Wembley Stadium shows – the singer made history earlier this year, when he became the first act to headline at the world famous London venue without a backing band.

Earlier this year, a video emerged of a freestyle rap battle between Sheeran and rap artist Devlin, in which the singer branded a fellow rapper ‘faggoty’. The clip was later pulled from internet.

Back in April, Sir Elton was named Britain’s most generous celebrity, after donating £24.1 million to charity, mostly to his AIDS Foundation.
