The singer’s new video features 49 dancers, representing the 49 victims of the massacre.

Sia surprised fans earlier this week, with the release of new track ‘The Greatest’, featuring Kendrick Lamar.

The video – which opens to a black screen with the hashtag #WeAreYourChildren typed in white font – sees the star’s regular contributor Maddie Ziegler joined by a total of 49 other dancers.

This number is said to represent the 49 victims of the Orlando mass shooting at gay venue Pulse earlier this year.

The video’s setting – a nightclub with bullet holes in the wall – along with Ziegler’s rainbow face paint, is also thought to in memory of those lost their lives in the horrific act.

Following its release, one of the video’s dancers, Matt Moseley, posted a screen grab to Instagram with the caption “49 beautiful lives lost. This is for you. #WeAreYourChildren.”

Sia’s fans have since taken to Twitter, using the hashtag to highlight the pain still felt by many following the attack.

Sia and her team are yet to comment on the video or the meaning behind it, although if the theories are correct, she would not be the first star to commemorate Orlando’s victims through her music.

In the wake of the attack, Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda – who made an impassioned speech at the Tony’s following the massacre – joined a host of Broadway legends in a moving tribute.

Miranda later joined forcers with Jennifer Lopez to produce an LGBT anthem in support of victims of the massacre.

The London Gay Men’s Chorus also recently released a full cover of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ for those affected by the crime.
