Another contender has weighed in on the debate around trans bathroom use – a deodorant company.

Secret Deodorant features a trans woman finding the courage to come out of a bathroom stall, despite appearing worried by two other women being present.

The ad comes as North Carolina introduced a law which bans trans people from using gender-appropriate bathrooms and other states and jurisdictions weigh up their positions.

Secret Deodorant is the latest company to trash such laws, and plays on their “stress test” tagline to illustrate how the simple act of walking out of a bathroom stall can be nervewracking for a trans person.

Played by Karis Wilde, the character Dana eventually finds the courage to leave the stall.

Speaking to Queerty, Wilde said: “I always have moments of insecurity but I have conditioned myself to act unbothered.”

“While shooting, I allowed myself to feel vulnerable. It terrified me how much I’ve stored all those emotions; I almost cried in the middle of taping.”
