Sam Smith has revealed their celebrity crush, and their answer was unexpected.

In an interview with US radio station SiriusXM Hits 1, Smith asked who their celebrity crush was now that they are “super single”.

They thought for a second, and then responded: “You know who came up on my phone last night?

“Shia LeBoeuf. He’s so fit! He’s so fit, he turns me on.”

The radio host implied there might be hope for the two of them, and said: “Well, it’s out there, it’s out there right now. For all of North America!”

But Smith added: “Well, I don’t think he’s gay. But I’d be happy to be his first.”

Smith made an appearance on Will Young’s podcast, Homo Sapiens, last year and discussed how much they struggled after they split with 13 Reasons Why actor Brandon Flynn in .

They said: “I’ve just gone through a break-up so I’m not in the mood for romance. When I see couples I just want to poke their eyes. It’s hard to be happy for other people when you feel so s***.

“Brandon was wonderful. I’m still trying to figure out what I took from that relationship and what it meant to me. It’s still quite raw. All my relationships have ended in a nice way, never nasty.”

Sam Smith recently accused the music industry of being “homophobic” and “sexist”.

The 27-year-old admitted this month that they are “scared every day” in the “homophobic” music industry, after coming out as non-binary earlier this year.

“I’m loving it, I mean I’m scared every day,” the ‘I Feel Love’ singer explained. “Being my feminine self in this world that we’re in, I mean the music industry can be a bit homophobic, a bit sexist at times.”

“So being feminine like this in the way I move and dance and am, it feels quite scary at times but is worth it.”
